Raq-On Dance's Afterschool Program

Raq-On Dance's afterschool program is a program for teens and pre-teens to get formal instruction in Belly Dance, aka Oriental or Middle Eastern Dance. Students will be placed in groups by age range and given an introduction to not only the dance moves, but to the history and culture of the Middle East and North Africa.

Amity Alize started Belly Dancing when she was 14 and knows first hand the benefits of Belly Dancing on the self-esteem, ownership of one's body, and being surrounded by other empowered dancers of all ages can do on a developing mind. In a world where a young person's body image can take a front row over everything else, dancing can give young folks the positive body experience and ownership over themselves that can last a lifetime. Belly dance celebrates all body shapes, sizes, and abilities. No previous dance experience necessary. No belly showing necessary. All genders welcome.
