Alumni Hall Hafla!
Saturday March 6th, 2010
Greetings dancers and musicians! To help bring us through the coldest days of winter, we now look forward to the next bellydance show at Alumni Hall Cultural and Interpretive Center in Haverhill, NH on SATURDAY, MARCH 6. The show is a benefit for Alumni Hall and all arrangements including advertising, ticket sales, refreshments, set-up and clean-up are provided by the Hall's executive director, Mark Chain, and community volunteers for Haverhill Heritage, Inc. All we have to do is have a great time presenting our show at this beautiful venue. Previous bellydance shows at the Hall have brought out warm, enthusiastic audiences.

The show will be presented in a "dinner theater" format with a dessert buffet. Tickets $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Showtime 7:00 pm. Performers should arrive by 6:00 pm. There are dressing rooms at the Hall. I recommend applying make-up before you come. If you're traveling a long way, you can make arrangements with me to come to my home first and do make-up there.
Dance performances must be belly dancing or Middle Eastern folk dance. Fusion is fine provided the performance contains significant elements of belly dance. Live performances of Middle Eastern music, with dancers or without, would be extremely welcome!
If you perform in a group piece you may also do a solo. Time limit 6 minutes per act. If we don't have enough performers to fill the evening, we may open to some soloists or groups performing twice. This would mean appearing in both first and second halves of the show, and for dancers, costume changes. If performing twice is something you'd be interested in doing, please let me know when you sign up (but go on the assumption it will be once once, unless I contact you).
To sign on, please e-mail me no later than FEBRUARY 12th at rosalbinah@yahoo.com. If you already have a plan about style, props, music or time, I'll appreciate any info though I'll also revisit those questions closer to the show. If without e-mail access, call 603-989-9848.
Please bear in mind this is a show being marketed to the public by Haverhill Heritage, and Haverhill Heritage volunteers and donors are putting time and money into it. If you sign up please plan to definitely show up, unless you have a real emergency. Our arrangement with Haverhill Heritage gives us the opportunity to enjoy performing at a lovely venue with all peripheral arrangements taken care of, at no cost or monetary risk to the performers. It's important we do our part and put on a good show.
Cancellation due to weather is unlikely. If travel looks unsafe after the show, shelter will be available for performers in my home which is very close to the Hall. For those who want to be sure of a comfortable bed, there's a bed and breakfast, The Gibson House, actually visible from the Hall and there are inexpensive motels in Bradford, VT and Woodsville, NH.
All
you talented people out there (I know you're out there!), I look
forward to hearing from you. Thanks so much,
Rosette
